Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for more information on birds building a natural immunity.

My King came back positive and I had him put down, my Ecckie has also come back positive but showing no visual signs and people are saying how some birds can build a natural immunity where they have the virus and then shed or expel it and recover fully.  Anyone have any more info on this?

Natural immunity is not common in any other species than Rainbow Lorikeets.  I have heard of it but not often.

Here is what you are looking for to some extent.

Here is another, it helps explain PBFD a bit clearer.

There are also some links attached to my cause on facebook that you may find helpful.  You may also like to join this cause.

I have 2 Sulpha Crested cockatoo's, both over 8 years of age, both PBFD positive, neither have built a natural immunity, although they are still very much alive and healthy within themselves.  1 has little to no feathers the other is quite fluffy with new feathers growing in daily.

I have done an extreme amount of research and do have contact with one of the leading PBFD research scientists in Australia.  You can pretty much take my word that there is little or no hope for natural immunity in a bird with Chronic PBFD (check my link above for definition of Acute and Chronic PBFD)

I hope this info helps you in some way.
